Lecture: Larz and Isabel Anderson's Automobile Collection
March 29, 2017 –
Larz and Isabel Anderson were enthusiastic motorists and enjoyed collecting automobiles. They purchased their first car, a Winton Runabout, in 1899 and amassed thirty-two cars over the next forty-nine years. Their collection included two electric cars, the first production race car offered to the public, and possibly the world’s first camper van. Sheldon Steele, executive director of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum located on the couple’s former Brookline, Mass., estate, discusses the history of the Andersons’ automobile collection.
The talk will last approximately 45 minutes with time afterwards for questions. This program is held in celebration of Anderson House’s 112th birthday.
